My birthright trip was one that I will never forget. Upon going to Israel with Hillel, I was a bit worried because I never really considered myself that religious. To my surprise, the trip was really more of an educational experience rather than a religious one. It was super cool being able to see things and places that I had learned about in Hebrew school or synagogue services growing up. This in turn made me feel more connected to my Judaism, despite always feeling like I identified more with being Jew-ish over being Jewish. Along with all the sightseeing and activities, I got to meet an amazing community of people, most of which I don’t think I would’ve been able to connect with otherwise. I can confidently say that birthright allowed me to make life long friends, both with my fellow UD participants and the IDF soldiers. If you’re even slightly considering going on birthright, GO!!! At the very least you’d be taking advantage of a free trip, and who doesn’t love free traveling?”

Going on Birthright was truly an enriching and incredible experience! I had the opportunity to make a ton of new friendships thanks to hotel hang-outs, bus rides, group bonding, and of course traveling to many beautiful sights. With a group of Israelis accompanying us on our travels, we had the privilege of learning more about the everyday lives and culture of people living in Israel. They taught us different games, their favorite things about Israel, and some of their lingo! I really appreciated the friendships that I made as we got to experience traveling all over such a beautiful and special country. I can’t wait to go back one day!

There are so many words to describe #bluehenbirthrightisrael. Inspiring, powerful, joyous, and an opportunity of a lifetime. I spent two weeks with some of my best friends, eating incredible foods, and touring vibrant cities all over Israel. Not only did I spend time learning about Israel, but I learned about myself as well. I tell anyone and everyone if you have the chance to go, TAKE IT. There is absolutely nothing like it.
